With Louisiana Craft Beer Week coming up, which runs from Sep. 24-30, now is a great time to explore the local Breweries and expand your local beer palate. While each brewery will most likely be releasing a special brew or 2 for the event, we thought we’d highlight some of our favorite drafts currently on tap at each of our Brewery listings. We will be doing this by neighborhood all week long, starting with the Uptown area. There are some truly amazing brews at each of these places, but for something that is a unique as it is memorable, try these picks:
Broad Street Cider and Ale – Captain Cooks 3rd Voyage Cider. With their Anniversary Party coming up this weekend, the folks at Broad Street Cider and Ale (THE place in NOLA to get some amazing, locally brewed coders), have brought a pineapple cider to the taps. “Refreshing, with just a hint of sour” is the perfect way to describe this wonderful Anniversary edition.
Courtyard Brewery – Big Mood Imperial Stout. 9% ABV. This amazing Stout is brewed with molasses that adds a killer sweet smoke, with just a touch of bitter. One of the best Stouts in the city.
New Orleans Lager & Ale (NOLA) Brewery – Bienville Tricentenni-Ale. 6% ABV. NOLA Brewery has been crushing it on the Sours lately, and with the 300th Anniversary of New Orleans winding down, there is no better time to try this 3 year, oak barrel aged sour.
Port Orleans – Royal Tea Ale. 5.2% ABV. Don’t let the name of this Earl Grey tea infused Pale American Ale fool you. It is loaded with complex flavors that come through with just the slightest bite. We recommend this to anyone looking to explore the nuances of flavors without being bowled over by the hopps. A subtle and sublime delight.
Urban South – Final Double IPA. 8.5% ABV, 100 IBU. This Double IPA is the current selection in their Architecture Series, and is dry hopped to near perfection with Amarillo, Mosaic, Galaxy, and Simcoe hoops. Be warned, though. This powerhouse of hoppy goodness packs a serious punch.
Wayward Owl – Boy Bait Blueberry Tart Ale. 6.5% ABV, 25 IBU. Boy Bait is a Buffalo Trace Barrel-aged, blueberry coffee cake, Fruited Sour Ale made with lactose, blueberries, cinnamon, & vanilla, and is based on an award winning 1950’s coffecake recipe.
Be sure to check out all their listing pages on the site, and keep an eye out tomorrow as we highlight the breweries in another NOLA Neighborhood.
